Reading is beneficial for children of any age! Not only can a child begin to recognize words from as early as two years old, but they can identify individual words in a mess of vocabulary cards. I taught a two-year-old child to read and match the vocabulary words to the correct toys. Even words that looked similar to the target word, he was able to recognize and still choose the correct one!
